While You Were Busy is a personalised audio news-briefing app operated by [[Border Networks — confirm legal entity]] ("the Operator"). We are privacy-first: we do not sell your personal data, we do not serve third-party advertising, and we collect only what the service needs to work.

1. Information we collect

• Account identifier. On first launch the app generates a random device identifier (a UUID). It is not your name, email, or phone number. It identifies your account so your settings and entitlement follow you.
• Locality (optional). If you set a location (city / state / country), we store it to make briefs and weather locally relevant. You can change or clear it at any time.
• Usage & playback telemetry. Which briefs were generated, viewed, played, completed, or skipped — used to improve relevance and reliability. Product analytics are collected via self-hosted Aptabase, which does not collect personally identifying information, advertising identifiers, or cross-app tracking data.
• Diagnostics. If the app hits an error it may send a crash/error report (message, stack trace, app version, platform) so we can fix it.
• Push token (optional). If you enable notifications, we store the push token needed to deliver them.
• Subscription status. Purchases are processed by your app store — the Apple App Store or Google Play — and we receive your entitlement status (active/expired) via our payments provider (RevenueCat). We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

2. How we use it

To create and deliver your briefs, personalise relevance, operate notifications and subscriptions, diagnose problems, and improve the service. We do not use your data for third-party advertising and we do not sell it.

3. AI processing

News articles (from public sources) are classified and summarised using AI models, and briefs are converted to speech. Article processing operates on public news content. Your personal settings are not used to train third-party models.

4. Sharing

We share data only with service providers that operate the app on our behalf (e.g. Apple and Google for purchases and notifications, our payments provider RevenueCat for entitlement, our email provider for transactional email), and where required by law. These providers process data under their own terms.

5. Retention & deletion

We keep account data while your account exists. You can delete your account and its data at any time from within the app (Account → Delete account), which removes your account record, redemptions, and push registration. You may also request deletion without reinstalling the app by emailing [[support@whileyouwerebusy.com]] from the request, or via our web deletion form at [[whileyouwerebusy.com/delete]] (required for Google Play). Requests are actioned within 30 days.

6. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including Singapore's PDPA and, where applicable, the EU/UK GDPR) you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data, and to withdraw consent. Contact [[support@whileyouwerebusy.com]] to exercise them.

7. Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from them.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
