Terms of Service

While You Were Busy ("WYWB"). Last updated: 2 July 2026.

These Terms govern your use of the While You Were Busy app and service ("the Service"), operated by [[Border Networks — confirm legal entity]] ("we", "us", "the Operator"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

WYWB generates personalised audio news briefings from public news sources using automated summarisation and text-to-speech. Content is provided for general information only; it is produced by automated systems and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. It is not professional, financial, legal, medical, or investment advice, and you should not rely on it as such.

2. Accounts

An account is created automatically on first launch and identified by a random device identifier. You are responsible for use of the Service on your device. You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Account → Delete account).

3. Subscriptions, billing & access

What you're paying for. A paid subscription grants access to the Service and its features for the subscription period. The fee is for access to the Service.
Price & period. [[US$X.XX]] per month (or the price shown in the app at purchase, in your local currency), billed through your app store account (Apple App Store or Google Play).
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your app store account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
Managing & cancelling. You manage or cancel your subscription in your store account settings — Apple ID → Subscriptions, or Google Play → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Free trial (if offered). If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Trials are limited to one per user.
Refunds. Purchases are handled by the app store (Apple or Google) and are subject to that store's refund policies. Beyond those, refunds are provided at the Operator's sole discretion and are not guaranteed.
Promotional / redemption codes. Codes may grant time-limited access, are non-transferable, have no cash value, and may be withdrawn or expire.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including: attempting to disrupt or overload it; reverse-engineering or scraping it beyond normal app use; reselling or redistributing generated content commercially; or using it unlawfully. We may suspend or terminate access for breach.

5. Intellectual property

The app, its design, and its software are owned by the Operator. News content originates from third-party sources and remains the property of its respective owners; WYWB provides summaries and links for personal, non-commercial use.

6. Availability

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

7. Disclaimers & liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for decisions made in reliance on generated content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 3 months before the claim.

8. App store terms

These Terms are between you and the Operator, not the app store. If you obtained the app from the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with the right to enforce them. If you obtained the app from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply. Where an app store's terms conflict with these Terms for purchases made through that store, the store's terms govern the purchase.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [[Singapore]], and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts, except where mandatory local consumer law provides otherwise.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
